From the 18th to the 20th of October, the 1st Edition of the Ideas Factory program takes place in the space of UGR Emprendedora, Breaker. Our CTO, @jmrobles, participates as a mentor and as a speaker with his introductory talk to the Business Canvas Model.

Ideas Factory

It is an event where university students test everything they know. In 48h they will be able to sketch a business project. During these days, mentors and experienced professionals assembling and managing companies are side by side with them to help bringing that idea to life.

It is a very well-rounded project that has successfully passed through many Spanish universities and now reaches the University of Granada.

More than 1000 participants have already gone through its program.

Although it is called Ideas Factory, what matters least is the Idea. After all, what is important is that the participants know a little more about what entrepreneurship is, while improving their skills and, of course, having fun.

Our participation

The organization contacted us a few weeks ago to see if we could participate as mentors. Of course, we agreed happily.

During our professional career there are many projects that we have seen born, grown and fallen. In addition, we ourselves have experienced the success and failure of business (Can there be business success without failure? This task goes for long, and for another post).

Our CTO, @jmrobles, is our special envoy to Ideas Factory UGR. In addition to helping potential entrepreneurs in related topics such as technical consultations: technical staff costs, technology, services, what can be done technically and what is not, will help land the idea.

Launching the idea with Business Canvas Lab

A new entrepreneur usually has ideas ... happy ideas.

Those ideas are usually utopian. They do not take into account the fixed expenses that have to be supported, how you will generate income, if you will need to have strategic partners, etc.

This is a recurring problem that we encountered and that is why Alexander Osterwalder created a methodology to launch ideas that he called the Business Canvas Model.

The canvas gathers the main areas to be taken into account so that your idea can function as a business. In reality, its main objective is to make the entrepreneur realize that the idea is not valid, and either change it or modify it.

@jmrobles gave a micro-class on Business Canvas Model where we took advantage of to introduce our own digital tool that we have created and maintained: Business Canvas Lab.

With this tool you can not only create canvas, but also allow budget estimation, because the system calculates the balance.

It is also collaborative, it allows to be used by teams in real time.

Conclusion

The experience has been magnificent. We appreciate you have counted on us.

During the talk about the business canvas model, the participants quickly realized that the idea must really work before deciding whether to carry it out or not.

We used Business Canvas Lab to model among all one of the participating ideas while we took the opportunity to explain each segment of the canvas.

Then, they started working with their canvases.

Whether you get great ideas launched or not, the experience acquired, the teamwork and the good time that you will have is priceless.
